A Reminder
Our meeting of this Thursday January 28th, will be held at Hope House
1450 Ridge Road next to Holy Trinity School
5:45 P.M.
Please consider bringing a food item, clothing, diapers, or any other item you wish to help others in need.
Following the meeting we will adjourn to the Mac & Cheese Restaurant for dinner.
It is located in the former Burger King building in the village of Webster.

Charities Dinner
Dennis announced that tickets are now available for the charities dinner to be held May 20th at the Knights of Columbus. Traditionally reserved tickets have been set aside and requests for special numbers will be honored on a first come first served basis.We needn’t elaborate on the importance of selling tickets for this event, our single largest fund raiser of every year. Also, as a sales incentive we are again offering the opportunity to win $150.00 if you buy an early bird ticket.

The big 50/50 drawing was initially won by yours truly, however, I drew the 3 of clubs. The pot now stands at $69.00 and growing.
Mark Yeager, Director of Parks & Recreation, was our guest speaker. Notwithstanding hot issues relating to pickle ball (joke, Robyn), we enjoy having available to us no less than ten town parks of various sizes including seven substantial athletic fields. The recreation center on Chiyoda Drive is a modern facility with plenty of opportunities for residents of all ages. A senior luncheon program is available for a very modest price. Jim Isaac can be seen almost every Thursday at the euchre game with Shirley alongside cheering him on.
Mark exhibited enthusiasm for his job and encouraged us to consider volunteering for any of the recreational activities that abound. In particular, he mentioned that the arboretum is in great need for volunteers as several board members have moved on or away.
Although Friends of Webster Trails does not fall under his department cooperation between the two entities makes for an even greater hiking experience. For example, take a walk in the Gosnell Big Woods and you will walk through beautiful old growth forest that will amaze you.
Google Town of Webster Parks and Recreation for a comprehensive picture of all of the activities available to residents of the town. In addition, you will find links to Friends of Webster Trails and the Arboretum, two of the finest gems in the crown of our town.

Many of us paid happy dollars that evening in recognition of Mark’s presentation and his devotion to providing activities to all town residents.

Robyn...thanks to Brian for filling in while she was in Florida jet skiing and visiting Disney in festive garb, Also happy that her neighbor and adopted father will soon reside in Maplewood. She was also happy that yours truly volunteered to fold a pile of towels as I awaited my turn for a shampoo and cut at her hair emporium. She really does a great job, you know.
Our program for February 2nd is Mark Johns at the Schroeder library.
February 11th we will meet at Lillian’s restaurant for our Valentine’s Day party.
February 18th, Bill Ruoff will speak about the 110th anniversary of Rotary.
In closing, I will mention again what an outstanding job Joan has done as program chairperson. I am reminded of days gone by when Jim Hill was program chairman and we looked forward to our weekly meetings. The job is no small task with many phone calls, juggling calendars, you name it. Thank you, Joan, for a job well done.
